MINDFULNESS & YIN COACH | How Denise will apply her new skills in our yoga classes

Last month, Denise followed a course to become a mindfulness and yin yoga coach. In this article, she shares her experiences and insights.

Denise’s experiences

Denise: “This winter, I taught a yoga class to two close friends dealing with burnout. I was blown away by the impact that yoga had on them. It enabled them to relax and check in with their physical and mental state. After that, I was eager to dive deeper into this topic. How exactly does yoga affect our brain and stress response? And what tools are there to help people deal with stress and burnout?

That's why I just finished the advanced mindfulness & yin yoga coach course at BalanSanté Mindfulness Institute. It has been a game-changer for my yoga teaching toolbox! Here some of my major insights:

〰️ Anxiety, anger, sadness, grief, and worry often get tangled up, but they require different approaches. In this course, I’ve learned to recognize these emotions in the way people move and breathe. With these skills, I can guide participants in recognizing stress and the different emotions behind it.

〰️ I've gained tools to help participants tune in to their own bodies. They can discover the signals that indicate stress and identify the situations where it arises. Together, we can explore what helps them relax and unwind. We'll delve into physical cues, thoughts, and emotions.

〰️ On top of that, I've learned and practiced yin yoga, the basics of breathwork (i.e. heart coherence breathing, conscious connected breathwork), myofascial release and mindfulness. A great addition to my current knowledge of hatha yoga, meditation, pranayama, and teaching techniques!

I've already had some one-on-one sessions, and I'm excited to integrate these tools into the drop-in yoga classes too! And maybe develop a drop-in yoga class for stress relief, combining hatha yoga, yin yoga, myofascial release and meditation. What do you think?”
